Job Description

The Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Medical Technologist to perform complex diagnostic testing within Laboratory Services. This role supports patient care, research, and medical education by delivering accurate, timely results in areas such as hematology, chemistry, and microbiology. The technologist will operate and maintain advanced analyzers, ensure regulatory compliance, and participate in quality initiatives. Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and complex diagnostic tests in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and related areas
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instruments and analyzers
  • Ensure accurate specimen collection, labeling, processing, and storage
  • Review, validate, and report test results in the LIS in a timely manner
  • Adhere to CLIA, CAP, and MUSC quality control, safety, and regulatory standards
  • Collaborate with clinicians, nurses, and researchers to support patient care and studies
  • Participate in process improvement, method validation, and new test implementation
  • Contribute to training of students and new staff within Laboratory Services
