Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a heavy or tractor-trailer truck over intercity routes, complying with all FMCAS and DOT regulations.
  • Plan routes and meet delivery schedules as devised by the logistics team.
  • Load, handle and transport materials or goods in a manner that minimizes breakages and damages.
  • Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness, reporting maintenance requirements and concerns.
  • Document and log work and rest hours, maintain records required for compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Utilize tools provided to minimize unplanned downtime or delays in scheduled deliveries.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch and logistics teams to troubleshoot issues on routes, delivery schedules, and vehicle operations.

Required Skills

  • Proven ability to operate a truck safely and efficiently.
  • Solid knowledge of electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc.).
  • Ability to handle physical workload, securing cargo and navigating manual and electronic lifting and rigging devices.
  • Strong time management and customer service skills.
  • Basic knowledge of truck maintenance.
  • Excellent geographic understanding and capability to operate electronic navigational systems.
