CT Technologist I

The CT Technologist I at The University of Vermont Health Network performs high-quality CT imaging studies to support accurate diagnosis and treatment. Working in an academic, patient-centered hospital environment, this role combines hands-on patient care with advanced imaging technology. The technologist positions patients, operates CT scanners, follows radiation safety and infection control standards, and collaborates closely with radiologists and care teams. Responsibilities

• Perform CT scans according to physician orders and department protocols
• Verify patient identity, obtain history, and explain CT procedures to patients and families
• Position patients safely and correctly to obtain high-quality diagnostic images
• Operate CT scanners and related PACS/RIS systems, ensuring accurate image acquisition and documentation
• Apply radiation safety principles and dose optimization techniques for patients and staff
• Monitor patients during and after contrast administration, reporting changes to providers
• Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and care teams to coordinate timely imaging services
• Maintain equipment cleanliness, report malfunctions, and support quality assurance activities
• Follow infection prevention, safety, and regulatory standards at all times
• Participate in ongoing education, competency assessments, and mentoring of new staff or students
