Job Description

City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students' academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you'll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You'll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core subjects during and after school
  • Support teachers with classroom management, engagement, and instructional activities
  • Foster students' social-emotional skills, attendance, and engagement through mentoring
  • Help plan and lead after-school programs, clubs, and enrichment activities
  • Track student progress and document interventions and outcomes as directed
  • Collaborate with teammates, school staff, and City Year staff to coordinate support
  • Communicate regularly with students' families and caregivers when appropriate
  • Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development sessions
  • Model positive behavior, inclusivity, and a commitment to equity and social justice
  • Support school-wide events, initiatives, and service projects as needed
