Job Description

City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students' academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you'll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You'll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. Responsibilities

  • Provide in-class support through tutoring and mentoring to help students meet academic goals
  • Lead small-group and one-on-one sessions focused on literacy, math, and social-emotional skills
  • Build positive, consistent relationships with students to encourage engagement and attendance
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to track student progress and tailor support
  • Assist with classroom management and create a positive, inclusive learning environment
  • Plan and support school-wide events, activities, and after-school programs
  • Collect and document data on student performance and participation
  • Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development sessions
  • Engage with families and community partners, as appropriate, to support student success
  • Model City Year's core values and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice
