Job Description

Seeking a Board-Certified Non-Invasive Cardiologist to provide locum coverage while the facility recruits a permanent second physician. Coverage is needed ASAP and will continue until a permanent provider is onboarded, supporting inpatient, outpatient, clinic, and call responsibilities.

Schedule & Coverage

  • Full-time coverage (Monday Friday plus call)

  • Call ratio: 1:6

  • Coverage duration: ASAP until permanent physician is hired

Practice Setting & Patient Volume

  • Inpatient, outpatient, clinic, and call coverage

  • Adult and geriatric patient population

  • Average of 10 clinic patients per day

  • Average of inpatient admissions per physician per day

  • One cardiologist currently in the group, with additional cardiology support present

  • Supervision of 4 Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs)

  • Epic EMR

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Non-invasive cardiology care

  • Interpretation of electrocardiograms (EKGs)

  • Advanced heart failure support (non-invasive; no procedural interventions)

Credentialing & Logistics

  • Estimated credentialing timeframe: approximately 120 days

  • Local provider required (mileage-only reimbursement)

Required Qualifications

  • Board Certified in Non-Invasive Cardiology

  • Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) certified

  • Advanced Heart Failure (AHF) fellowship with LVAD experience

  • Active Virginia medical license

  • DEA registration

  • ACLS certification

  • Clean background required (temporary privileges may be considered)
