|
Lead a team in the design and implementation of complex server hardware, operating systems, system utilities and storage; and/or the analysis, documentation, installation, development and maintenance of complex server hardware, operating systems, system utilities and storage.
Administration, monitoring and/or modification of automated information system software or -applications, related tools and interfaces. Software or applications are generally designed to meet specific business units or needs. Duties may include application-specific user support and security functions.
Lead a team responsible for the analysis, development, modification, installation, testing and maintenance of complex server hardware, operating systems, system utilities and storage.
Possesses an understanding of systems programming, graphical user interfaces and control languages.
Lead a team to evaluate vendor supplied software packages and make recommendations to IT management.
Lead a team to modify and/or debug complex vendor-supplied utilities and packages.
Lead a team to modify, install and prepare technical documentation for system software applications.
Lead a team to diagnose, isolate and de-bug complex software problems and perform problem resolution.
Lead a team to monitor systems capacity and performance, plan and execute disaster recovery procedures and provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support.
The incumbent will play a critical role in the infrastructure and operations organization, providing day to day leadership and support of our backup and recovery services and solutions. In addition, the incumbent will serve as the disaster recovery administrator and coordinator.
Currently Kent State University supports 6 TSM v5.5.3 server instances running in 2 different data centers processing more than 2TB of backup data on a daily basis. The TSM servers provide data backup/recovery support for over 500 TSM clients, including MS-Exchange email, Oracle databases, and MS-Cluster file servers. Responsibilities include planning, implementing, and maintaining the TSM backup infrastructure, providing TSM data backup/recovery technical support, and implementing IT disaster recovery best practices.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide team leadership and guidance in management of day-to-day backup/recovery task
Develop and implement backup and recovery strategy
Plan, test, implement and maintain TSM server and TSM client software.
Work with users and application groups to define and implement backup and recovery solutions
Analyze, define and manage TSM client backup policies to ensure that they meet disaster recovery time objectives and recovery point objectives.
Monitor TSM client backup processes to ensure they complete successfully, and resolve any problems and errors when necessary.
Perform TSM client data restore operations as necessary.
Manage the TSM vendor software license and support contracts.
Define and maintain DR plan and strategy
Provide central coordination and administration of DR plan and contracts
Work with IT staff and users to implement disaster recovery best practices, including, but not limited to, performing risk mitigation methodologies, application impact analysis, DR plan development, and DR plan exercises.
Participate in strategy development as it relates to cloud computing services and solutions |

Skills:
|
|
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related degree plus 6 or more years experience.
Or a combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to an Associate degree in IS/CS plus 8 years of experience including; leading a team that administers and/or modifies multiple complex hardware; leading the design and operation of multiple complex server and storage components; leading the design and implementation of server / storage architecture changes; developing complex server and storage requirements; leading the creation of server and storage standards / procedures and working effectively with very limited oversight.
Strong planning and communication skills
Three (3) years of TSM (Tivoli Storage Manager) server administration experience required, including TSM TDP for Mail (MS-Exchange), TSM TDP for Databases (Oracle RMAN), TSM for SAN (LANfree) and TSM TDP for Sharepoint (or equivalent tools)
Experience with TSM server software migration to v6.1 is a plus.
Must have a strong technical understanding of the following disciplines:
o UNIX and Windows systems.
o Relational database systems.
o MS-Exchange email systems.
o Disaster recovery planning best practices. |
