ROLE
• To provide clinical services that are consistent with accepted Center and Program standards of care, practices, goals, values and policies.
• To create and maintain a positive and professional work environment
• To support the Center in maintaining itself as a viable outpatient children’s mental health provider
• To maintain a positive image of the Center and its programs in the community
• To support the Center in developing and maintaining programs and services that are responsive to the needs of the Center, Center clients, Center funding sources and the community at large

FUNCTION
The Intensive Outpatient Therapist is responsible for providing a range of clinical services to children, adolescents and their caretakers in a timely and appropriate manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The following are responsibilities associated with the position of Intensive Outpatient Therapist. This however, is not meant to represent an all-inclusive list, as job responsibilities and work schedules may change. The Center reserves the right to change job responsibilities and work schedules associated with this position at any given time. Changes in job responsibilities and work schedules are related to the needs of the Center, Center clients, Center funding sources and the community at large.

• Complete written clinical and psychosocial assessments, including risk assessments, substance abuse assessments and DSM-IV 5-axis diagnoses. These are to be completed and typed on the computer within established timelines
• Develop typed treatment plans
• Provide individual and family therapy
• Provide crisis intervention and emergency assessment services, including participating in the 24-hour on-call rotation as assigned.
• FSP on call roll out, LPS certification
• Facilitate hospitalization and/or connection to a higher level of care when appropriate
• Provide case management
• Field work: Provide in-home, school and community based services.
• Complete all Center and Program paperwork via the computer and within established timelines. This involves being able to sit for periods of time at the computer as required to complete paperwork.
• Conduct written phone screenings in a timely manner
• Assess, monitor and develop safety plans to address risk factors.
• Ensure current and prospective clients are responded to in a timely and appropriate manner
• Ensure clients are adequately covered in therapist’s absence, including informing on-call therapist of any concerns or high-risk cases.
• Work collaboratively with other Program clinical staff to ensure that Program clients receive appropriate and coordinated care.
• Connect client with psychiatrist for medication evaluations and monitoring
• Participate in the Utilization Review process as assigned.
• Present cases
• Conduct oneself in a professional and appropriate manner at all times
• Meet monthly productivity standard
• Maintain a work schedule that meets the Center’s established standards.
• Adhere to Center’s and Program’s clinical and administrative practices, policies, standards and guidelines.
• Inform Clinical Director and Program Coordinator of any situations, incidents or concerns that affect the Center’s ability to provide clinically appropriate services and maintain a positive and professional work environment, as well as address any safety or other areas related to risk management.
• Develop knowledge and skills in areas related to assessing and treating Program clients.
• Take on additional tasks as required.
Skills:  
REQUIREMENTS
• Master’s degree in social or counseling psychology
• Must be registered and in good standing with he respective licensing board in the State of California
• Must possess a substantial amount of clinical experience with severely emotionally disturbed children and adolescents and their families, as well as experience providing emergency assessments and crisis intervention with this population
• Must have knowledge about practices and procedures related to the assessment and management of high-risk clients, including those who present as a danger to self or others or who suffer from a major mental illness
• Should have knowledge and experience in the additional following areas: clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, individual/group/family therapy, treatment of SED children and adolescents, psychotropic medications and legal/ethical standards related to clinical practice
• Must be able to work effectively as part of a clinical team
• Must be able to type paperwork via the computer and be able to sit for periods of time as needed to complete paperwork on the computer
• Must be professional, flexible and possess good judgment
• Must possess a commitment to Center and Program mission and values
• Must have a valid California driver’s license; current automobile insurance; have and maintain a clean driving record; have immediate access to his or her vehicle during work hours
• Bilingual English/Spanish required.
