The Job
The Opportunity Network is looking for a driven and experienced individual to join our team this summer. The
Summer Program Assistant will be responsible for organizing, managing, and executing our second summer of our Summer BizCamp program taught by Network for Teacher Entrepreneurship (NFTE) for 25 of our current
OppNet Fellows in late high school and early college. Summer BizCamp is a four-week entrepreneurship
bootcamp in which students develop an entrepreneurial mindset, learn about market analysis, create business
models, utilize financial management tools, and gain an understanding of how to operate and grow a business.

This position will begin in late June and finish in mid-August, with two weeks of prep before the BizCamp and
one week of wrap up after. Candidates must be available during the duration of the NFTE Summer BizCamp
from Monday, July 8th through Friday, August 2nd from 8:30-3:30pm. The salary is $18/hour for this position.
This is an ideal opportunity for a graduate student interested in coordinating programs for young adults,
planning events, and working to create a transformational opportunity for our OppNet Fellows.

The Organization
The Opportunity Network is a community-based, 501(c)3 non-profit organization that works with high school
and college students from historically underrepresented communities in developing the skills, knowledge, and
passions to achieve their college and career goals. OppNet believes networks are essential ingredients for success not emphasized in career development programs for youth. We honor the identities and embrace the
power of each member of our community.

• Support the NFTE teacher and Program Manager of Career Success to ensure the successful operation
of the program;
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the BizCamp and maintain effective and efficient record keeping on
student attendance and assignments;
• Assist the NFTE teacher in the classroom when needed, aiding in student activities;
• Help supervise and ensure the safety of the program’s participants at all times;
• Lead preparations for the Summer BizCamp (i.e. making copies, assembling materials, creating resource
guides for students);
• Coordinate all volunteer events, such as business coaching sessions with professionals;
• Liaise with corporate partners hosting events and guide field trips and on-site experiences;
• Coach participants through the program experience and troubleshoot any issues;
• Help conduct pre and post assessments from all Summer BizCamp participants;
• Assist with follow-up and evaluation the week following the BizCamp;
• Assist with other OppNet programming, as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college/university;
• A minimum of 2 years' experience in a school environment and/or previous experience working with
young adults is strongly preferred;
• Familiarity with business concepts a plus;
• Must be able to work independently and collaboratively, as well as able to manage multiple projects;

• Demonstrated ability to connect with high-achieving high school and college students from underserved
• Able to be both nurturing and hold students to high expectations;
• Enjoys working with high school and college students;
• Superb oral and written communication skills and an ability to interact effectively with various
• Strong organizational talents and the ability to meet deadlines;
• Self-starter with strong entrepreneurial drive: takes initiative; comfortable operating in growth mode and
wearing many hats; can operate self-sufficiently, but also collaboratively as part of a team;
• Demonstrated belief in The Opportunity Network’s mission; and
• High degree of effectiveness - gets things done!
