|
The Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) is accepting applicants for the position of Custodian. Under the direction of the DCPA Lead Custodian(s), this position is responsible for performing janitorial and event set up duties, following the DCPA front of house standards keeping the Helen Bonfils Theater Complex, and other DCPA Properties and Venue spaces in a clean and orderly condition. The Operational scope is that of multiple sites (office buildings; one multi-use live theater complex comprised of four theater spaces; one small theater and Venue space.
Primary duties include:
Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
Gather and empty trash and recycled materials in all public spaces, restrooms, dressing rooms replacing liners and cleaning receptacles as necessary.
Service, sanitize, and supply restrooms.
Clean sinks, countertops, microwaves, and refrigerators in break rooms, green rooms and dressing rooms.
Clean, dust and polish furniture, windows and fixtures.
Restock all supplies in bathrooms, break rooms, storage closets, and common areas.
Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
Furniture set up and strike for events ranging in size from 10-100 people. Includes setting of folding tables, chairs, coat racks, trash and recycle receptacles. Occasionally will need to move couches, benches, coffee tables and high cab tables.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements Include:

Ability to work independently as needed to support the group effort.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Knowledge of green cleaning methods and supplies
Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
Ability to read and understand computer generated drawings for proper event set ups and strikes.
Experience with using power equipment such as carpet and upholstery cleaners, floor buffers, aerial lifts, backpack blowers, power washers and floor scrubbers.
Physical Requirements:
The work requires routine walking, standing, bending and carrying items weighing less than fifty pounds. Moving items over fifty pounds utilizes a team lift
May need to work in aerial lifts at height up to 50 feet
May be asked to work late and weekend hours
Hearing to converse with others in a normal conversation
Balancing, bending, climbing, kneeling, walking, pushing, reaching above shoulders, and sitting.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent; Minimum 18 years of age
2 years experience in facility cleaning
Valid Colorado Drivers License required
Bilingual, (English and Spanish) with the ability to understand fundamental instruction, comments, or requests in English and Spanish
