General Summary:

Develop, administer and manage student support, leadership development and retention-based programs for students and student leaders involved in Greek Life. Support student leadership development in all programmatic areas of Campus Life. Responsible for strategic planning, program development, budget, marketing, technical operations, and student staff development and supervision. Provide general administrative support to Campus Life.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for the development and administration of the social Greek fraternity and sorority system. Maintain records of chapter rosters and monitor compliance with registration/update processes at both institutional and national organization levels.

Coordinate officer and advisor training, develop/communicate relevant policies and procedures, and work closely with Student Conduct office in managing/investigating infractions. Advise the Greek governing councils and oversee other administrative matters of Greek organizations. Guide chapters/councils on Greek recruitment activities, new member training and other developmental matters for Greek organization members.

Provide services, resources and advocacy by coordinating programs, workshops, seminars and retreats to develop, challenge and enhance the personal development and leadership skills of Greek community members. Foster the educational process outside the academic classroom in collaboration with other students, faculty and staff. Act as liaison to national Greek letter organization advisors and representatives assigned to EMU chapters.

Plan and implement, and/or advise student leaders and others on leadership development programs, workshops, seminars including but not limited to EMU LeaderShape and Emerging Leader Workshop Series to develop, challenge and enhance student leadership skills.

Recruit, train, schedule, provide direction for and evaluate student staff, student volunteers and program participants. Ensure diversity in programs and services, marketing materials and staffing.

Participate in cross-divisional strategic planning to achieve University goals. Represent the department on campus and community committees, and on regional/national organizations as appropriate. Represent the department at campus-wide recruitment events.

Engage in appropriate research and assessment on student needs. Conduct learning assessments, program evaluations and student interest surveys on a regular basis. Develop databases and other records necessary to maintain longitudinal data on the efficacy of the programs.

Collaborate with institutional partners to contribute toward a comprehensive, substantive student involvement and development experiences at EMU. Establish effective relationships and coordinate services with University departments.

Negotiate contracts and ensure university compliance with all legal agreements.

Coordinate and supervise all logistical, technical and event management operations, addressing appropriate risk management strategies.

Develop marketing strategies and provide direction for the creation and dissemination of public-relations and marketing materials promoting programs to the campus and surrounding communities, including use of website and web-based tools, social media, newsletters and campus-wide media outlets.

Develop and manage budgets for programs and services. Administer programs within assigned fiscal resources. Manage appropriate collection and deposit of cash funds for ticketed events. Actively seek opportunities to raise funds in support of the program and/or department, including grants, sponsorships and individual gifts.

Ensure that programs, services, marketing materials, and staffing are inclusive and representative of our diverse campus.

Ensure adequate and appropriate use of electronic and web-based technology in programs, services, and marketing. Advise walk-in students and make appropriate referrals.

Operate within and enforce relevant department and university policies and procedures.

Develop alumni databases, maintain positive relations with and involve alumni of the department.

Responsible for ancillary assignments, possibly including but not limited to: department marketing and branding initiatives, department recognition, departmental team building, student staff hiring and selection, student staff training and evaluation, mission effectiveness/assessment, alumni outreach and involvement, etc.

Perform related departmental duties, as required.


Demonstrated knowledge of college student development theory and practice as acquired through the completion of a Master's Degree in College Student Personnel, Student Affairs, or Higher Education Administration is required.

A minimum of three (3) years professional work experience coordinating programs and services for social Greek organizations, advising Greek governing councils, and managing Greek judicial boards and/or processes in an institution of higher education or at a national social Greek letter organization is required.

Demonstrated knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, FIPG and risk management, and other issues/concerns specific to social Greek organizations and student organizations is required.

Proven experience developing, implementing, and assessing new and existing programs and services for college students is required.

Demonstrated ability to incorporate student learning and development philosophy into services and programs is required.

Demonstrated ability to program for and manage/supervise large, diverse groups of college students, student volunteers, and student employees is required.

Experience in basic fiscal management such as developing and managing program budgets is required.

Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.

Excellent management, leadership, detail-oriented organizational skills and time management skills are required.

Demonstrated ability to use basic and some advanced functions of Mac and Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Google Apps for Education, the internet and web-based forms is necessary. Familiarity with OrgSync student engagement platform is preferred.

Must be willing to work irregular and flexible hours, including frequent evenings, some weekends, and some holidays.
