The On Call Benefit Counselor will effectively and professionally represent Unum in benefit enrollment activities for all Unum offerings that require a purchasing decision on behalf of the eligible client and/or family member. Benefit education sessions will occur in large group meetings, one on one meetings, or through DataXchange/Webinar formats.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Uses in-depth knowledge and understanding of all group, and voluntary offerings as well as the multi-life individual products (Income Protection and Individual Long Term Care), to provide complete on-site benefit enrollment services to eligible clients and/or family members
Is versatile in the delivery of needs based sales presentations to diverse employee groups and one on one meetings.
Collects enrollment data on a laptop system for both new customers and re-enrolling customer support (including Plan Administrator connects, partnering with Enrollment Coordinator on scheduling.)
Conducts enrollment and benefit education overviews via Webinar or other internet solutions
May perform other duties as assigned

Skills:

Qualifications
High school diploma required, undergraduate degree preferred
Must possess/maintain necessary insurance licensing (Life and Health) plus any special state licensing requirements for Long Term Care (prior to officially being hired and attending new hire training)
Enrollment experience preferred
Bi-lingual ability (Spanish) a plus
Prior insurance, financial services, human resources, sales, training, and/or teaching experience highly desirable
Ability to quickly build rapport and relationships with a variety of business partners
Excellent (demonstrated) presentation skills in group settings as well as in a face-to-face environment
Superior customer service skills
Strong (demonstrated) computer literacy and knowledge of technology (PowerPoint, laptop functionality, spreadsheets, internet connectivity)
Ability to work well independently, show initiative, exercise discretion and offer creative on-site solutions
Must be available to travel nationwide as requested, with an average frequency of once a month. Significant availability to work during fourth quarter (October-December) due to Unums peak enrollment / business cycle
