SUPERVISOR: Building Principal and Superintendent or designee
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 200 days per year. Works on-site according to designated schedule.

SUMMARY:
To assist the Building Principal in promoting the educational development of each student by providing instructional leadership and management necessary to maximize the efforts of teachers and students in an environment which is conducive to educational enhancement, growth and achievement for students. The Assistant Principal will work collaboratively to implement the school mission, direct and nurture school staff and communicate effectively with parents and community partners.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* A Master's degree, or higher, from an accredited college or University.
* Evidence of successful teaching and/or administrative experience.
* A valid Idaho Administrator's Certificate endorsed for Principal K/12.
* High-level communication skills, including individual and group skills in mediation, consensus, and problem solving.
* Exhibits patience, discretion, judgment, confidentiality, and diplomacy when working with various staff, students and patrons.
* Ability to collaborate positively and work effectively with students, parents, patrons, staff, and administration.
* Ability to effectively communicate with the public.
* Biliteracy in English and Spanish preferred.
* Knowledge of Idaho Content Standards preferred.
* Technology literate..

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list of essential duties is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class. * Assists in supervising the school's instructional process and ensures that the approved curriculum of the District is followed.
* Assists in structuring classes within the framework of the District's instructional program to meet student needs, the school's instructional goals, and the equitable use of the facilities.
* Understand and implements the BCSD Strategic Plan.
* Assists in supervising and evaluating all staff members regarding their individual and group performance.
* Assists in establishing and maintaining an effective learning climate in the school.
* Understands and implements appropriate student management techniques.
* Assists in developing a master schedule with scheduling alternatives.
* Responsible for managing and working with committees.
* Assists in establishing guides for proper student conduct within the policy established by the Board of Trustees, and maintain student discipline following procedural due process.
* Assists in the planning, organizing, and directing the implementation of all school activities.
* Attends school sponsored activities, functions, and events as appropriate.
* Cooperates with the Director of Special Programs in the administration and implementation of the District's student services program.
* Assists in preparing and supervising the preparation of reports, records, lists and all other paperwork required or appropriate to the school's administration.
* Assists in preparing, maintaining, and administering the school and student budgets.
* Participates in meetings or programs as required or appropriate.
* Works with District leadership on District wide programming.
* Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field.
* Responsible for having a working knowledge of BCSD policy and procedures, Master Agreement, and State Board of Education rules and regulations.
* Perform duties in accordance with Board of Education policies and procedures and State laws and guidelines;

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects. Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training and personnel information systems. Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders. Ability to read and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, students, parents, and the general public. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs; ability to plan and implement lessons based on school objectives and the needs and abilities of students. Ability to work in a friendly manner and to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and parents. Ability to perform duties in accordance with Board of Education policies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 35% sitting, 30% walking, and 35% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.
