Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement – Reunions
As a primary component of the University and the Alumni Association’s strategy to engage alumni, this Alumni Engagement position is responsible for developing and implementing alumni engagement strategies related to Reunion and Class activities. The Assistant Director will build and lead programs specific to reconnecting significantly more alumni to the University through their participation related to these strategies. Along with reunion and class activities, this person will focus on fostering more alumni volunteerism from a high level to an event-based engagement effort.
In conjunction with the Alumni Engagement Office leadership, this position provides critical oversight to University’s goals related to engagement needs and interests of the alumni. Through a thorough understanding of the alumni population and its culture, the Assistant Director will develop and oversee best practices that enhance alumni programs’ participation. Through coordination and communication of reunion efforts and reunion giving, this role fosters collaboration and synergy between engaged alumni and the fundraising efforts of IWU.
Responsibilities: The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following areas of responsibility:
• Leadership and Management of Projects
• Event Logistics
• Communications and Outreach
• Systems and Operations
Minimum Qualifications:
• The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s Degree preferred, and three to five years of experience managing volunteers and/or working in alumni relations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Experience in writing and managing communications.
• Experience monitoring and managing a budget.
• Ability to make sound judgements and decisions under stress, have flexibility and communication skills that foster a positive team environment.
• Experience in fundrai8sing software/databases such as Advance, Salesforce, iModules, Blackbaud products
• Some overnight travel required
